Town & Gown Theatre has been offering New Year's Eve entertainment and celebration for a few years now, and this December 31st will be no different. The theme is set to be Denim & Diamonds, and much of the entertainment will spotlight Country & Western music with a theatrical twist. There will be plenty of fun for adults, but for some attending the star attraction might be the option to bring the kids along, since they'll have their own fun place to enjoy the special evening.

Fun for the Adults: Music, More Music, Dancing, Drinks, Desserts...

For grown-ups, the entertainment will come in two forms: between sets by one of Stillwater's favorite bands will be a musical cabaret. Opening and closing the evening, Morgan will be in the spotlight. This band is well-known in and around Stillwater. The group is lead by Morgan Reynolds, who sings and plays keyboard, guitar, saxophone, flute, and—well, you might be dazzled by her talents. She and the other three band members play both original and popular songs.

As a sort of "Act Two" between sets by Morgan, the evening will feature "tons of fantastic music by our Town & Gown performers," says Dana Ayers, the event's director. The cabaret will include songs that "run the gamut from standard country to John Denver" along with selections from "musicals that have a country flavor or an Oklahoma connection." This segment, Dana adds, will culminate with "a medley from Oklahoma!" One might assume partiers will have the option for a bit of good ol' singin' along.

But there's more than music. Denim & Diamonds offers adults a chance to dance along with a chance to drink, choosing from a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. There will be the traditional midnight glass of champagne, too. Oh, and food! In fact, the organizers are trying something deliciously different this year: a table filled with desserts will be available throughout the evening.

Fun for the Children: Games, Arts and Crafts, Movies, Pizza, a Quiet Retreat...

As I say above, some attendees will be very pleased to know that there will be an area especially for children aged four to fourteen. Given the theme of the event, Dana refers to this space as the "kids' corral," and her co-planner Valerie Thrasher describes the two adults there to supervise as "wranglers," According to Valerie, children can choose from "board games, arts and crafts, Christmas movies, maybe even a video game or two to keep the kiddos entertained." To accommodate those staying late, she explains that "we have a designated quiet area where kids can sit and read or even sleep." There will also be pizza and other snacks, adds Dana.

Dana Ayers and Valerie Thrasher are respectively the director and the producer of the Denim & Diamonds New Year's Eve Party.
