March, 2011
Spring
was in the air, but Old Man Winter made one
more visit. The
cold blast hasn’t stopped the cast &
crew of working tirelessly to prepare for
their production of Clue:
The Musical.
The music and choreography may be
challenging but their weeks of rehearsals
will prove that this show will be
entertaining for all audiences.
Performances are scheduled for April
7 – 10 and April 14 – 17.
The box office opens on Monday, April
4. If
you are a season ticket holder, don’t
forget to mail in your seat requests early. This show has all the makings of a sellout.
Town
& Gown hosted the Regional Spring OCTA
conference on March 5.
Nearly 30 people were in attendance
and participated in 4 workshops that day.
At lunch, participants went on a tour
of our facility learning about our theatre
space and its history.
Many hadn’t been to the theatre in
years and noticed how much we have grown.
The costume shop was a huge hit!
Don’t
forget, Cueless
comedy improv troupe will be performing on
April 22 and 23 at Town & Gown Theatre.
There will be two shows each night at
7:30 pm and 9:15 pm.
We
are getting to that point of the year when
there is a lot happening backstage, the
business of the theatre.
The
Play Selection Committee is getting close to
their deadline and is awaiting your proposed
plays and musicals.
If you are interested in submitting a
production for our 61st season,
please contact the PSC chair, Meg Price at merrall.price@okstate.edu.
The
Bylaws & Constitution committee has
reviewed the current Town & Gown Bylaws
and proposed several changes.
These proposed changes will be
emailed to the membership and available at
the next member meeting.
Extra hard copies will also be
available at the box office.
The proposed changes will be voted on
at the May membership meeting. If you have any questions, please contact the Bylaws &
Constitution committee chair, Jacob Boyd at jboyd@kicker.com.
The
Nominating committee will present the slate
of prospective candidates for the Board of
Directors 2011-2012 at the member meeting on
April 5.
This is an exciting year! As
always, thank you to all our wonderful
volunteers who continue to spend their free
time making this theatre special.
Happy
Spring,
-- Dawn Wilson,
Town & Gown President, 2010-11
