Long before the ghost of Hamlet’s father  haunted Shakespeare’s stage, spirits of the dead began a close relationship with the theater.  The attraction still continues.  Yet theatrical ghosts are not limited to those made of greasepaint and gauze.  A peculiar percentage of theaters report actual phantoms lurking amid their balconies, greenrooms, catwalks, lobbies, and so forth. 

In fact, several volunteers here at the Town and Gown Theater have reported having experiences that are difficult to attribute to, say, the wind or an echo.  These volunteers are both skeptics and believers in regard to ghosts.  The sheer number of their reports is, well, unsettling. 

The purpose of these web pages is not to argue that our black box theater is a locale for supernatural phenomenon.  Rather, we only present the stories told by our members, show areas of the theater that seem to be focal points of paranormal activity, and offer theories and a bit of evidence regarding the eerie events here.  We merely ask the question:  does the Town and Gown Theater have a GHOST?  You are invited--or should I say “dared”?--to hunt down the answer in the following pages:
